Newcastle City Centre Cycleway Strategy

Newcastle’s City Centre is in the midst of urban renewal under the NSW Government’s “Revitalising Newcastle”.  Bitzios Consulting was commissioned by Transport for New South Wales to develop the Newcastle City Centre Cycleway Strategy.  This strategy provides a cycleway network for the study area which will integrate with external cycleway networks and other transport improvements whilst capitalising on a changing streetscape brought about by the Newcastle Urban Transport and Transport Program and Newcastle Light Rail.

In addition to generating a preferred cycleway network for the study area, the strategy also identifies end of trip facility needs, marketing and education needs, the potential of an e-bike sharing scheme and the impacts on and needs for pedestrians in the City Centre, with both light rail and the preferred cycleway network in place.
