Tengiz Traffic Modelling Kazakhstan
Posted: 11th November 2019
Tengiz oil field is in Northwest Kazakhstan along the northeast shores of the Caspian Sea. The oil field was undergoing a major expansion which resulted in a substantial increase in manpower with an estimated peak workforce of 26,000 personnel. Workers were being transported from camp to various works sites by large buses causing extensive congestion at key intersections during peak periods. TCO commissioned Bitzios Consulting to undertake a traffic modelling study to understand the extent of the current and future traffic issues and to plan traffic and demand management measures to address these issues. We worked closely with TCO in developing practical and effective management measures. The recommendations from this modelling study have been implemented resulting in significant reductions to peak hour traffic delays.
